art for japan - my crochet and knit story

this is my little story of my love for crocheting and knitting.

crocheting was introduced to me by keiko.  she had made this handkerchief, with crocheted mushroom embroidery.  it was so simple yet so beautiful.  i was inspired to learn.
keiko has always been a friend that showed me new and different things.  she has such great taste.  she knew how to appreciate the little details.

my mother had worked at a knitting factory as a child.  it was her very first job.  she was 8 years old and she made sleeves.  she is the only one in her family that knows how to knit and crochet.  when i was a kid, i remember how she would make various things for our family and the house.  my mom made her own patterns and i have a sweater vest she made about 23 years ago.
it never occurred to me to ask my mom to teach me to knit or crochet.  i taught myself through the youtube videos and other random diy videos.  slowly by trail and error, i taught myself to read patterns and though i still have lots to learn, i am proud to say i can knit and crochet.

i think when we take the chance to create our own things, we are empowered.

i was introduced to arielle de pinto by a close friend.  i was inspired to make my own jewelry with crocheting and knitting.  and by chance, i also found langoliers.  i love being inspired by people and beautiful things.  i hope one day my creations will inspire others to do the same.

on april 2, i have donated 2 of my own pieces to raise funds for japan.
please come out, support local art and help japan.
